Electronic Engineer/Field Technician

ICT International researches, designs, manufactures and deploys bespoke, integrated, wireless monitoring technologies for commercial agriculture, scientific and environmental research into the natural and built environments.

ICT International exports these technologies to over 51 countries annually from its manufacturing base in Armidale. The research, design, manufacture and marketing of this instrumentation is based on over 35 years commercial and research application experience.

Position

ICT International seeks a full-time person to manage the design, installation and maintenance of sophisticated environmental monitoring systems and telemetry networks. Also, to repair third party environmental instrumentation.

Position: ICT International Electronic Engineer

Duties:

  • Technical project management – specification, design and installation of environmental wireless telemetry monitoring solutions
  • Analysis and diagnosis of datasets
  • Analysis and debugging of new instrumentation prior to market release
  • Communicate with hardware, software & design engineers
  • Repair of third party environmental instrumentation
  • Communicate with customers regarding repair jobs
  • Liaising with customers to deliver service contract obligations

Selection Criteria

Required skills

  • Be self-motivated but capable of working in a cohesive team environment
  • Experience in repair, testing and calibration of communications, scientific or industrial electronic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team on remote sites.
  • Field experience with installing, commissioning or maintenance of sensors, instruments, telemetry
  • Knowledge and experience in working with wireless and IoT technology
  • Broad knowledge of electronic components.
  • Work to weekly deadlines in times of normal and high flow capacity whilst maintaining quality output
  • Competent at soldering and repair of surface mount PCBs
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office and Windows and MAC operating systems
  • Knowledge of micro-assembly based production
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practical electronics, technical aptitude, and an interest in its application to the environmental sciences
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organisational office skills, initiative, diligence and common sense

Preferred additional skills but not essential

  • Experience with using CAD would be an advantage.
  • or SCADA systems would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge in environmental science would be an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Cert 4 TAFE qualification or Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics
  • Or an equivalent alternative combination of relevant knowledge, training and /or experience.
  • Appropriate on the job product training will be provided.

Electronic Instrument Repair & Assembly

ICT International seeks a full-time person to repair ICT International instrumentation and assist in the assembly and manufacture of ICT Instrumentation.

Position: ICT International Instrumentation Repair & Customer Support

Duties:

  • Repair of ICT International instrumentation
  • On-line and phone customer support
  • Quoting customer repair jobs
  • Ability to analyse and solve “dataset” problems
  • Stock ordering & maintaining stock levels
  • Assist in the assembly, testing and final manufacture of ICT International instrumentation
  • Database upkeep
  • Product component research

Selection Criteria

Required skills

  • Able to follow procedure instructions precisely
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practical electronics, technical aptitude, and an interest in its application to the environmental sciences
  • Mechanical aptitude; ie solder, assemble, and disassemble, instruments.
  • Knowledge of micro-assembly based production
  • Have an attention to detail, fine motor skills, good dexterity and good eye sight
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Be self-motivated but capable of working in a cohesive team environment
  • Work to weekly deadlines in times of normal and high flow capacity whilst maintaining quality output
  • Sound computer literacy skills and the ability to adapt to various propriety software packages.
  • Demonstrated organisational office skills, initiative, diligence and common sense

Preferred additional skills but not essential

  • Advanced knowledge of electronics or other related industries.
  • Proven methodical problem solving skills with the ability to work logically from “first principles.
  • RF experience

Qualifications

  1. Minimum Trade Certificate in Electronics.
  2. Or an equivalent alternative combination of relevant knowledge, training and /or experience.
  3. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently under limited supervision.
  4. Appropriate on the job product training will be provided.

Dispatch / Warehouse Position

ICT International is a sales, marketing and manufacturing company with expertise in environmental, scientific and agricultural instrumentation. The marketing of this instrumentation is based on over 35 years commercial and research application experience. The company has a strong national and international customer base dealing with the leading research scientists and environmental professionals around the world.

The successful applicant will:

  • Assemble, pack and dispatch orders nationally and internationally.
  • Liaise with the order processing, sales and engineering departments on a daily basis.
  • Provide an invaluable role in shipping the ICT International product lines to Australia and the world.

Duties:

  • Order assembly and order packing
  • Order dispatch via local truck couriers and international couriers
  • Creation of export documentation
  • Dispatch and collection of mail via Australia Post
  • Instrument testing – limited final testing of various soil & plant monitoring sensors prior to dispatch
  • Assist with stock control

The position is permanent. Salary: commensurate to skills and experience.

Selection Criteria

  Required Skills:

  • Ability to prioritise.
  • Ability to work under both normal workflow and high workflow conditions.
  • Sound computer skills but a willingness to learn additional computer skills.
